Meet your Sensei

Sensei, is an honorific term shared in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese, it is literally translated as "person born before another" or "one who comes before".  In general usage, it is used, with proper form, after a person's name and means "teacher". to show respect to someone who has achieved a certain level of mastery in an art form or some other skill.

Dave Grice, 7th Dan

Position: Chairman Chief Instructor S.S.K
Training Since: 1960

Sensei Grice established the S.S.K back in the 1980s, he has trained and graded with top Japanese and English Instructors.  Sensei Grice is First Aid and Enhanced D.B.S.

Mike Moore, 5th Dan

Position: Vice Chairman S.S.K, Technical Director S.S.K
Trained since: 1990
 

Sensei Moore started training in 1990. He has trained with Sensei Grice since then, as well as training and grading with other English and Japanese instructors.  Sensei Moore is First Aid trained and Enhanced D.B.S.

Neil Philips, 3rd Dan

Position: Instructor S.S.K
Trained since: 2014
 

Sensei Philips started training with the S.S.K after brining both his sons to training and seeing their progress and enjoyment.  Sensei Philips is First Aid trained and Enhanced D.B.S.

William Philips, 2nd Dan

Position: Instructor S.S.K
Trained since: 2013
 

Sensei Philips is our youngest instructor but one of our most technically gifted karataka.
